1) Last week brought me a ruptured ear drum (Ouch). The pain is gone, but my hearing in that ear has yet to return and I've been referred to the ENT.
2) Shaun had his end of season tball party (even though we have 1 more game this weekend). We had such a great group of kids and parents - I'll miss them. Our friend and coach has said Shaun is ready to play up an age group. He thinks he's just too bored at this level and not getting anything out of it. There was much debate at the party on whether this was good or bad for him. Thoughts?
3) I finally got some Christmas shopping done during lunch breaks this week. I feel sooooo much relief. I have such a long to-do list and never enough time to actually "do". I managed to get some cute new Christmas outfits for Shaun and Ainsley too. They are awesome!4) After a HUGE blow-out between Matt and Shaun this week over clothes (Shaun thinks wearing pants instead of basketball shorts is pure torture)...I had a breakthrough. I realized that I always have bought clothes for the kids without them there. Quicker yes, but then he has no "buy in" to what I bring home. So - I announced to Shaun we were having a special Mommy-Son outing where he got to pick out HIS OWN clothes! Rules ... 1) must be long pants/sleeves for cold weather 2) he can no longer throw fits about what to wear.
We went this week and IT WORKED! he loved going out just us and loved trying things on in the dressing room and looking at the 3 way mirror. (so cute - he loved that mirror).
5) I love using our new Advent Santa I got for this year. It's a cute Fabric Santa wall hanging with holders for candy canes on each day of December. Each night the kids come up after dinner to get their "candy corns" (as Ainsley insists they are called) and I make them each say something they are Thankful for that day. It's a small thing - but with all the gifts and spoiling going on this time of year - I want them to realize, even if just for a moment each day, just how blessed they are and to feel thankful for all we have in life.
On that note - I'll say I'm so thankful for my wonderful kids and husband, for my amazing parents and brother - who paved the way for me - showing me how to love and enjoy life.
I'm thankful to have such great in-laws, who treat me like I'm their own! I'm thankful to have a job, health, and great friends who show me new and different ways of looking at things when I get too full of myself.
My cup runneth over...
