Shaun did GREAT today! Slept late, ate a huge breakfast, walked right into the school!
He ran into his friend from next door (1st grader Tia) and said hello right away. (Thank you God for that little gift of comfort right when he needed it).
We found his room, met his teacher and went to play on the playground. He was starting to get a little nervous then, but held it together quite well.
When we went to his room at first he kept whispering he wanted to go home now...but once his friend from his daycare (Anabelle) showed up he perked up and calmed down.
While mommy and daddy had their "orientation", the kids went for story time to another room and an hour later once we were done and he went back to his room he simply waved good-bye and smiled for daddy's camera as he walked by. Calm and happy and confident!
I just got back home and have to wait 2 hours to pick him up today (1/2 day the 1st 3 days of Kindergarten at this school). I can't wait to go get him. I'm just so proud of him.
Here are some pics we took along the way this morning. Yeah Shaun!!!
First - Special Dessert for "off to kindergarten" celebration last night...
And here he is all packed up and ready to go...
That's Anabelle in front of him with the braids, and a new friend Jacob in front of her that loves Star Wars too!

Glad to hear that first day went well! Jack and Tommy would love his sweet Star Wars backpack!

Also, just noticed that the kid behind Shaun in the last photo looks a bit scared. Hope that little dude had a good day too! (Steve)
Oh yeah - that kid cried from the minute he walked in through the whole day. Poor little dude. (Weston was his name). Maybe day two will fair better!
