So, last night there was a school fundraiser at good 'ol Chuck-E-Cheese for our daycare.
Shaun pretty much begged to go and once he started, Ainsley joined in. Matt had a meeting at work, so I picked them up and bravely took them over there myself.
When I picked them up I learned that as a special treat Chucky himself came to daycare to visit them all today. Shaun and the other big kids ate it up, loved him, hugged him, and loved it.
Ainsley's class saw one paw and bolted to the other side of the room for places to hide and screamed bloody murder. Her ENTIRE room!
However, she seemed excited to go to "Chucky's house" to play games and do rides - so off we went. We came in with one of her good friends, Addison and her mommy. As soon as we got through the gate/stamps Chucky came up to say hi. Shaun hugged him. Ainsley and Addison went into hysterics. Ainsley grabbed my leg as hard as she ever has and started screaming and shaking. I picked her up, calmed her and gave Chucky the stink eye so that he knew she was not enjoying his presence (as if the screaming and shaking didn't already give it away).
The rest of the night was fun, they played with friends, daddy came and met us for some pizza dinner, and we headed home in time for bath and a little iCarly before bed.
I think it was about 10pm when Ainsley started waking up scared. She never really said she was scared, or mentioned why, but it is very unlike her to wake up often. She cried out every hour or so all night needing an extra hug or kiss or cuddle. Eventually I just brought her into our bed to sleep and she was better. Still woke up a few times seemingly scared, but once she realized where she was she calmed right away.
So that brings us to this morning. Matt is dropping them off at school and Ainsley starts to get anxious. Ainsley was talking non-stop about Chucky on the way in. She described in detail what she did and where she went to hide when he came in to their classroom, exactly what Bailey (her best friend) starting doing (screaming for her Mommy). Then she asked Matt at least 7 times if Chucky was going to come to their school today. He kept telling her no, and finally she started to say that he wasn't coming to her school and that he was staying at his house. She then asked Ms Pam if he was coming, then Ms Beth, and finally Ms Jayne.
She is obviously freaked out by him big time!
So - I guess we can't go to CEC anymore, oh darn. ;-)

Two of my kiddos were freaked out by the Chic-fil-A cow. No matter how much we tried to explain that it is just a person in a costume, the fear in them rejects all attempts to reason. Thus, we have not frequented Chic-Fil-A. I feel bad for them. It would not be a good feeling to have such fears. I hope Ainsley, and her mommy and daddy, get to sleep well tonight!
Thanks Amy! She did well with "forgetting" about Chucky this weekend. Tonight she saw a commercial for it and said "mommy - look chucky!". She said she likes him on T.V., likes him at "his house", but doesn't like him at her school. I guess even a 2 year old can compartmentalize.
