What we did...

My last post ended with me contemplating what-ever would Matt and I do for 4.5 days without the kids here...  Well - it wasn't exciting trips off to exotic places - but it was a nice break for us.

We watched movies (with violence and mature content in them!).  We went out to dinner (without requesting the waitress rush out the kids meals as soon as they were ready!)  We even went to places WITHOUT kids menus!
We didn't sleep in or anything since we were still working all week - but we didn't pack a single lunch before heading to work, or have to play chauffeur once.  Matt got some jobs around the house done (without little helpers so it went quickly).  I worked a ton as this was a very busy week for me - but I was able to do that without having to stop in the middle to go pick up the kids, run them somewhere, make dinner, and then complete it after they were in bed.  ;-)
And once we were done with all that - Matt and I got to look at each other and remember that we were once husband and wife and friends before those glorious, adorable little people entered our family...we got to remember that we kind of like each other, and breathe, and talk, and laugh.

When you are constantly running here/there and going and going - it feels a little odd to only be responsible for your self for several days in a row.  After you get past the initial "odd-ness", it also feels relaxing, liberating, stress-free, fun, romantic, and eventually --- lonely.

Yes, despite our glorious freedom week - we both had to admit we missed the little buggers like crazy and we are excited to go see them and squeeze them today!

So, THANK YOU to my awesome in-laws for giving the kids some amazing memories up north this week, and thanks for giving us a nice break.  You are the BEST!
