Zumba!

Ever heard of Zumba?

Officially it is ... "an exhilirating, effective, easy to follow, Latin inspired, calorie burning dance fitness party". Well - the local My Gym (kids gym place by my house) is offering adult Zumba classes at night twice a week for the low price of $5 a class. No membership required.

A bunch of my neighbors and girlfriends signed up and I tried it for the first time last night (1st time is free!). It was very fun, challenging, and so worth the $5 that I'm now going to go every Monday!

It's dancing - so you don't feel like you are working out at all. I am a white-y, white, Scandavian girl from Minnesota - so I don't exactly have the "Latin inspired" thing naturally - but going with friends who also may be rythmically challanged, or hip shaking challenged makes it for fun and giggles as we try to keep up with our triple jointed instructor. And I was doing better by the end too! It had Latin moves, hip hop moves, African moves, "dancing with stars" moves - and lots of different fun music.

Anyway - I recommend you google Zumba and find a class near you! It's awesome, and if I can do it - anyone can!

(Mom - they even have something called Zumba Gold specifically geared towards baby boomers generation. I can see you and Carla "shakin' your booty boot" as Ainsley would say!)
