We have returned from our 1st official family vacation! (Believe it or not our last real vacation was when I was pregnant with Ainsley!)

That afternoon we had a wonderful lunch (mommy packed sandwiches and snacks) on a great grassy spot overlooking the bay/marina. This may have been my favorite part of the whole trip. Just our cute little family, sitting on a blanket overlooking the beautiful bay full of boats having silly chatter over ham sandwiches and apples. It was simple yes, but just one of those perfect moments where you realize how lucky you are in life.
After lunch we headed downtown to the waterfront and we toured the aircraft carrier - the Midway. It was so cool. We got to climb in and test out real Jet Fighter cockpits, see the mess hall, the medical center, the bunks, many planes, helicopters, just everything. Shaun couldn't believe that our very tall Cousin David Mark could ever fit in the low ceilings and tiny bunks - but he did back in his Navy days!

Friday we hit Legoland early - lots of fun rides age appropriate for our kids. Shaun even tried his first Rollercoaster! Terrified during, big smile after - just as it should be on a good Roller Coaster ride. ;-)
Favorites had to be the water play area and the big pirate ship playground area. But also Shaun got his drivers license and raced there...pretty cool.

Daddy and Shaun liked the big slide well enough - but it was not a favorite for Ainsley.
Saturday we hit Sea World, saw Shamu Show (Awesome, but Shaun was disappointed he didn't get soaked), saw the Dolphin Show (Did get soaked - Shaun very happy). We saw many awesome animals, played in play area, rode some rides...very fun day. Too many pictures to post - but this one sum's up the end of the day of fun.

Our last day we spent more time with our cousin's and went to the beaches near their house in Carlsbad.

San Diego was great, the weather was great, the kids were amazingly well behaved for the most part, and our wonderful cousins Cathy, Mark, and Jordi were so much fun and so good to us!
We hit the beaches 2 days, had a blast at Legoland and Sea World, toured the aircraft carrier the Midway, and had lots of fun play time with our cousins. Only bad part was it ended. ;-(
Shaun got his first taste of salty sea water really quick as he dashed to the beach the minute we left the car on Thursday. We found out immediately that Ainsley is Terrified of sea weed for some reason, but she had fun playing in the sand and jumping waves (as long as mommy or daddy held her to keep her safe from the deadly sea weed).

We ended it with an awesome dinner at our cousin's house! Thanks Cathy, Mark, and Jordi!
