My sweet brave boy...

So I have not posted for a while, I know - but we've kept quite busy.  Between work, pre-school, summer camp, baseball board, 2 soccer practices and 2 games a week, our new dog kelly, and a quick trip up north ---we have had a busy couple weeks for sure!

We were plodding along and then...Tuesday night we awoke from a blissful sleep to Shaun running into our bathroom, throwing up the whole way.  That scenario continued all night, for the next about 36 hours.  We finally decided that despite our best efforts, our home TLC and water/gatorade regimen was not working.

That, combined with the extreme abdominal pain he had now developed with the vomiting, and since it was Very early in the morning we headed for the ER.

There were failed attempts at urine tests - can't pee when you can't even hold down water for 2 days.
Then there was Shaun's introduction to putting in an IV.  Not fun, but he actually did pretty well conisdering.
There were blood tests, anti-nausea meds, and a bag of IV fluids.
I was relieved he was in a place that could handle anything and he was furious that he had a needle in his hand and his arm was freezing.  (I looked past the fury since he hadn't ate or slept in 2 days.)

His BUN levels came back really bad and they did a 2nd IV bag of fluids.  He was hydrated enough after that, then came xrays.  In the end all the serious things were ruled out and they sent us home with directions to administer more anti-nausea meds and keep a very watchful eye.  Within 15 minutes of being home he threw up again.

However, then he napped, drank lots of gatorade (and kept it down), and seems to be much better (knock on wood).  For a kid who has been vomitting every 2-3 hours for 2 days, he is doing pretty well...but it has only been 6 hours and it could just be because of the meds.

We are hoping for a restful, puke free night...(it's the little things in life - right?)
