We are saying goodbye to Soccer, for now.

Shaun had his last games yesterday for both his U6 team and his U8 team that he played up on.
He went out in glory for sure!
His U6 game, the Lions, he played on the "blue" side and their team won 5-4, and Shaun personally had 4 of the goals! He had great passing and ball control all game...the whole team did - it just really started clicking for everyone this game.
His U8 game, team New Zealand, won too, 9-5! He played in got 5 assists in this game - great passing and on his part again! He also played in goal and had 5 great saves (but got scored on once in a tough shot situation one on one with the other teams star).
He had so much fun! Coach Steve was all over him again to try to get him to sign on for another session, and to come play competitive club team for him. Shaun was so hopped up and excited after the game that he even considered it at first...but once we explained that would mean no baseball, he immediately changed his mind and said - no, I want to play baseball. Man, these coaches recruit hard, and young don't they! Do we have to get him an agent? Just kidding - I am not that delusional.
I know a lot of parents have their kids in multiple sports and activities, but we have always had a rule...1 thing at a time. We just think it's important while he is this young to have normal kid "free" play time and not be running off to another activity every night of the week. He is only 6 years old!
Anyway - he had a blast with soccer, and despite his mom's secret desire for him to fall in love with the same sport she did, I think it will just be his off season love...and that's okay. really, I mean it, no really! ;-)
