In-laws

Most people would read the title of this post and think it was going to be about how awful in-laws are and the stress of interacting with the strange family you married into...
That is NOT what this post is about, because MY in-laws are awesome!

Now, that is not to say that my own parents are not superb - because they are great. They do amazing things for us all the time. Little things like talk to me when I'm stressed to the gils and reassure me I am not actually insane, nor am I the first mom to wish I had Merlot on tap some nights. And big things like take both our kids for 3.5 days while we whisk away to Colorado for an amazing trip! My parents are great - so I'm very lucky to have them in our lives too!

However, this post is about my in-laws. They are just great people. So dedicated and supportive of each other. Such great, hard working examples that life is about the journey's you take - not the fortunes you make. Fun, involved, engaged parents and grandparents.
And while I can count on them for advice when I seek it, they are never judgemental or in your face about things like some in-laws can be.

So - What spurred my subject matter for today?

We get so busy with life that getting the little repair things done around the house just falls to the wayside most times. In fact, we've had a big pot under our kitchen sink for about 6 weeks because our sprayer hose has been leaking and we haven't found the time to take care of that.

So...yesterday we had our new water heater installed. My father-in-law (FIL) had a friend that is a plumber and arranged to have him come put in the new water heater we bought last weekend. He and my mother-in-law (MIL) came to our house in the morning. Took care of all the details with said plumber and we simply came home last night from work and it was all done!
No fuss, no muss for Matt and I. That by itself - so nice of them to do.

Then - add to that we forgot to leave a blank check so they fronted us (and now I have to figure out how to make them take the money from us because I know the won't want to).

Then - add to it that when I walked into the kitchen we had a brand new, perfect kitchen faucet bought and expertly installed by their plumber! We never even told them about that problem - they just saw it and decided to take care of it for us while they were there. They are so thoughtful and generous of spirit!

Then - add to it that my kitchen sink was beautifully cleaned as well - surely by my MIL.

I just have to say - I am so lucky, we are so lucky to count them as our family!
And since they read this blog - I have to say a big THANKS! Again! You are too good to us!

You are lucky - Nina Joan and Poppy are pretty cool!! So are your parents too! Your kiddos are very lucky to have such wonderful grandparents!! BTW - garden - we bought the garden box/bed at Home Dept (they were in their add last week) and ran a drip line and dug up the ground a little and added some soil. Pretty simple, we'll see how it turns out.
