You ever have those moments? The realization that you are exactly "that mom" that you saw or met back when you didn't have kids, and swore you would never be?
I'd never be THAT MOM that sent her kid to daycare sick. (check)
I'd never be THAT MOM that forgot to...brush teeth, didn't have time for a bath, didn't check they wiped good enough - and the kid is the smelly kid in class that day (check)
I'd never be THAT MOM that had two wild and crazy kids ... in a restaurant, grocery store, at Walmart for God's sake, and screamed at them meanly to behave or they'd be sorry (check)
I'd never be THAT MOM that liked off the candy her kid just dropped on the ground because frankly it was easier than listening to them scream (check)
I'd never be THAT MOM that forgot...it was picture day, show and tell day, bring in treats day, special day to top all special days, and made her kid feel left out (check)
I'd never be THAT MOM that ... you get the picture.
There are times I feel so bad, like I'm missing the mark, and others when I feel I'm right on track.
Today - I felt great. Matt is out of town on business, so I was on my own. We managed everything. Getting myself showered and ready for work, getting both kids up, dressed, teeth brushed, fed a nutritious breakfast. For Shaun - Backpack packed with homework, library book to return, football for after school program, snack and bottled water for morning snack break. For Ainsley - dressed in the cutest dress you can imagine, dolly and blanky for naptime, even a huge stack of magazines to donate for art projects for the daycare.
Both dropped at school on time without protest or tears. And made it to work on time.
Hard, good day at work, stopped at grocery store to pick up items for tomorrow night's dinner, pick up each kid, drop groceries in fridge at home and head back out the door, nutrious snacks (apples) for the kids, and off to swim lessons.
Shower both kids up after swim and off to have a fun late dinner together and back home to wind down before bedtime routine.
At this point - the kids are watching their requisite 30 min. of TV (iCarly) and I start unpacking the swim bag and then Shaun's backpack.
Too Good To Be TRUE .... Ugh, a Note...
Shaun is in need of lunch money for his account. It has been at ZERO for at least 3 days!
I'm THAT MOM.
Oh -well, I was on a roll for a while I guess..
