O Christmas Tree...

We had such fun last night going to get our Christmas Tree.

I remember as a kid hiking through 2-3 feet of snow at a tree farm and cutting down our OWN tree. I know in my brain that I complained of the cold and the long walk and such and drove my parents crazy. But in my heart, looking back now, it was such a great family tradition!

So now, while a fake tree would be more economical, better for Ainsley's asthma, and certainly less hassle --- we still just MUST get a real tree.
Living the in Arizona, the days of cutting our own are gone, but we enjoy our annual trip to the tree lot at the nursery and the kids run through all the trees and really think they are in a "forest".
We hunt and peck and analyze and over-analyze and eventually pick the best one on the lot and take it home.
We inevitably second guess our selves once we get it home and placed and see all the hidden holes we missed, but once the lights and decorations are on it - it is beautiful - every year - no exceptions!
It might be the pine smell hypnotizing us, it might be the heartwarming home made ornaments from our childhood, and our children, or it might be the joy in our kids eyes as they decorate and place those ornaments. But whatever it is - the holes and strange branches disappear and it just looks perfect!
Merry Christmas!
